Our educational trip to Body Worlds!

On Friday night, Brooke stayed at my moms so Kenny and I could go to The Leonardo to see Body Worlds: The story of the Heart. It is a museum type thing that has real bodies and organs displayed like statues. You can see every muscle, ligament, blood vessel, and pretty much any type of thing that is going on inside your body! We learned so much! Kenny got to see what the heart really looks like on the inside. He saw on a TV screen what exactly his heart was supposed to be doing and seen the part of his heart that is not working right. It was very cool! It helped both of us understand more about what is happening to him. My favorite part was the Human Developement part. They had fetuses there and there was one for each week from the beginning of the 6th week to the end of the 9th week. It was crazy to see how much it changes in that little amount of time! At the end of the 9th week, it has fingers and toes! They were so cute! The fetus was the size of my pinky nail and had teeny tiny fingers and toes! And they had babies that were between 18 weeks gestation and 32 weeks gestation! It was sad to see them, but also as a mother, it was amazing to see how they develope inside your tummy. I have always been curious about it, and have read many books about fetal developement. Seeing it with my own eyes just put it more into perspective for me. Something else I learned was about the smokers lung. It was something that I have been wanting to see for a long time. I really wanted my mom to go with us just to see this. She doesnt think it could happen to her. They have a non smkers lung that had a little bit of gray on it from breathing in dust, but will disappear over time. Then, they had the smokers lung. It was BLACK! So gross! I learned that 20 cigarettes is equal to a coffee cup full of tar that gets on your lungs and doesnt disappear. And that every cigarette is one minute off your life! I know my mom probly wont read this for awhile, but for when she does: Mom, Please quit smoking. Seeing it for myself made me realize that you may think that it may not happen to you, but it already has. Please don't make it worse. I learned that When you quit smoking, Your health automatically improves, your taste buds enhance, and you have more energy! So please take all that into consideration! We all love you!
