Fire, Water and Ice Festival

I feel like I need to blog but it feels weird to blog without pictures! On Saturday, August 8th, we went to fire water and ice at the the Kearns pool. It is something that happens every year and it is so fun! All the pools are open all day, they have inflatable bouncehouses, and you can ice skate for 2 bucks! At night they have an awesome firework show! My mom decided that she would come up for awhile and brought Heather and her friend Nikki with her. Kenny had to work til 5, but he came up after. Brooke had so much fun! I had bought her a lifejacket to wear so I wouldnt have to hold her the whole time in the water, but it didnt work. She was latched! It was pretty windy that day, so it made it very chilly! Me and my mom decided to take Brooke to the indoor pool to swim. So much warmer in there! Later, we dried off and I got Brooke a wristband to go on the inflatable bounce houses and took her inside to the gym. They had little bounce houses for toddlers and a tee ball thing set up. She LOVED that! I think I might just get her one of those little tikes tee ball sets! she was pretty good at it! In the halls, they had a bunch of booths set up to buy things and my mom bought her and Kiya little sparkly wands for 50 cents! Brooke loved hers! Then I saw a booth with the ribbon hair bow clip things and had the lady make one to match Brookes favorite dress perfectly. It is so cute! I was looking at it when I got home and decided to try to make some. they turned out cute, but not as cute as that ladies! We swam more after that and rested a little (underneath a comforter that I was smart enough to bring) and then it was almost time for fireworks! We were sitting close to the band and practically all day Brooke was dancing her butt off! doing new and way cute dance moves that I had never seen her do before! We gathered all our stuff and headed to the van to be closer to the exit after fireworks were over. I am so glad that I did! I parked at Kearns High School and as soon as we got to the van, the fireworks started! We were in front of the school and the fireworks were set off right behind it in the football field! They were so close and so huge! They were right over our heads! Brooke was amazed at how big and beautiful they were! They had an awesome show and I think I would rather go there every year instead of Sugarhouse! No pictures because I had left my camera in Ashleys car.

Kiya is one day old!

So cute in her huge flower !!!

All stretched out....

Its knda blurry but her eyes were open!

My pretty flower that aunt Jenny made for her!!!

She stared at me for the longest time!

Kiya Lynn Parry is finally here!

Yay! Kiya Lynn Parry entered this world on July 29th 2009, at 7:54 p.m. She weighed 6lbs. 11oz and is 20 inches long! She has lots of black hair and looks like her daddy so far! I got to watch her be born thanks to my awesome sister! She did an excellent job pushing! She was dilated to almost a 7 when she was able to get the epidural, so she had lots of very painful contractions, but did very well through all of them! There was absolutely no complications other than she was running a fever so Kiya was too. I am so jealous! She didnt even tear like I did! Lucky! She is a very strong girl, and does pretty well with pain, so I think her recovery will be easy peasy! We are all very excited for Kiya to be here finally, and Brooke is just ecstatic! She already loves her and was being so gentle with her! She touched her cheek and rubbed it softly, she examined her nose, eyes and tiny fingers. She is very excited to paint her little tiny nails! She said her feet were "Big Huge"! They are freakin tiny!!! I will post more pics later. Maybe I should create a new blog all about her.... Hmmmm.....

The new family...

Mommy and baby....

Brooke already had to feed her as soon as she saw carol with the bottle!

Our 24th of July!!

Kenny decided that on the 24th of July he wanted to do his own fireworks instead of going somewhere to watch them. He bought a 20 dollar package of fireworks and we cooked a nice dinner and went out to light them off. At first, Brooke wasn't so sure about them being so close and loud! We gave her some of the snaps that you throw on the ground and she LOVED those! She was a little afraid to hold the sparklers, but she did once for like 5 seconds! She really liked to watch the fireworks after Kenny put them a little farther out. I even dressed her up that day in a new outfit and her red star earrings and red white and blue bracelet! She looked so cute! It was a great night, and despite the fact that the fireworks almost all looked the same, we all had fun. I am really glad that we decided to stay home...

Checking out all the fireworks!

Hiding her eyes because she was afraid of the fireworks!

Getting nervous because they were a little close...

The wind was blowing so hard!

Carol-- 8 months pregnant

Monday, July 13, 2009

I decided to do something different with Brooke last week. And she decided that she wanted to go to "school". She put on her furry boots, got her little backpack on and started heading toward the door. I grabbed the sidewalk chalk and followed her out there. We colored on the sidewalk for a little while, and then the stupid Ice Cream Man just had to come blasting his music down the street. So I bought Brooke an Ice Cream and we just sat out on the grass. Brooke helped me color a rainbow that I drew, and she made circles of her own. It was a fun day!

Brooke coloring and making her circles.

You can kind of see the circle that she drew. She scribbled in it.

Eating her Tweety Bird Ice Cream.

So adorable!

On the 4th of July, as our usual family tradition, we went to sugarhouse park for the fireworks. They have the best fireworks! Kenny had to work til 5 that day, so he just met us there. My mom and 2 of my sisters came with us. I bought tickets for the bounce houses and when Kenny got there he took Brooke down there to jump. I was up at the entrance selling my Flower clips and Baby Bracelets. Brooke had fun rolling down the hill, and running all around on the grass. Then When it started to get dark, I bought her a light up butterfly wand. She loves it! She thought the fireworks were awesome! She kept saying," Isn't that pretty mommy?" over and over again! It was so funny! And she would scream at the top of her lungs when they would boom! She was jumping up and down and clapping when they were all done! have heard that this was the last year they are doing it so I am pretty bummed. We will have to find a good place next year.

bouncing in the bounce house...

Having a blast!

Her butterfly wand. Its blurry because it flashes really fast and she wan't holding still.
